High Quality Montessori
It is important for parents to be aware that all Montessori schools are not created equal.
Montessori is not a trademarked name, which means schools can use the label regardless of if they follow the Montessori Method in the classroom.
Out of more than 4,000 so-called Montessori schools across the country, less than 35% are affiliated with the American Montessori Society who is committed to the highest standards of quality in Montessori education.
North Star Montessori is a Full Member School of the American Montessori Society. We are the only Montessori school in Jackson, MI that is affiliated with the American Montessori Society.
North Star Montessori is currently on Step 6 of the AMS Continuous Pathway framework, which is an indication of our commitment to meeting the highest standards of quality in Montessori education.
North Star Montessori is a Member School of the Michigan Montessori Society. North Star Montessori's Founder/Director/ and Montessori educator Barbara Barnes is a current MMS Board Member which strives to promote Montessori education and philosophy.
North Star Montessori lead teachers have degrees in:
- Early Childhood Education
- Elementary Education
- Montessori Early Childhood Credential
They have completed an accredited AMS program which includes a nine-month Internship experience in an approved school in an Early Childhood classroom under a credentialed AMS Montessori Teacher through the Adrian Dominican Montessori Teacher Education Institute located in Adrian, Michigan. North Star Montessori is the only Montessori school in Jackson, MI with Montessori certified lead teachers in each classroom.
North Star Montessori teachers are members of the American Montessori Society as well as the Michigan Montessori Society.
They attend yearly conferences earning over 24 professional training hours in current research and teaching practices in Early Childhood Education.
