Why North Star Montessori?

North Star Montessori students ​are a community of learners that enjoy collaboration, independence, and order. The design of our classrooms facilitates the student's natural desire to learn, as the furniture and hands-on materials are scaled for children. Our shelves are carefully prepared with the finest Montessori materials, allowing students to experience the order and beauty of each Montessori lesson.

Our classrooms are specifically designed to meet the child's developmental and educational needs over a period of three years. Children stay engaged and eager to learn as they progress through our curriculum at their own pace.

North Star students have many opportunities to be decision makers and problem solvers as they learn to move independently throughout the classroom. With hands-on Montessori activities in Math, Science, Reading, Writing, Spanish, World Culture & Geography, Art, Music, and Peace Education, North Star students become active participants in their own education as they pursue their own interests.

North Star Montessori provides consistency in learning during your child's first, and arguably most important,

 plane of development from 3-6 years old. Your child will progress with the same teacher and classmates over three years as they develop their sense of self and personality. North Star Montessori teachers work in small groups giving individual attention to your child as they work at their own pace, nurturing and encouraging their natural desire to learn. ​​

Throughout the year we invite a variety of guests into our classroom. Parents and grandparents often volunteer their time to help celebrate holidays and read to our North Star Montessori students. They also love to share their special talents, interests, jobs, and travel experiences with the kids.

In addition, we invite community members such as firefighters and dental hygienists to teach us about health and fire safety. During our 20 plus years, North Star Montessori has welcomed authors, magicians, zoo keepers and musicians to our classrooms to inspire our students.
